JARC, a nonprofit organization serving adults 
with developmental disabilities in the Metro 
Detroit area, hosted “Sukkot in the Lot,
” an 
annual Sukkot holiday celebration for the 
people they serve on Sunday, Oct. 16. 
Held in the Jewish Federation of 
Metropolitan Detroit’s parking lot in 
Bloomfield Hills, participants of the event 
enjoyed cider and donuts, played fall-themed 
games and danced to music with their favor-
ite Star Trax DJ. A traditional sukkah, made 
available to JARC by Federation, was offered to 
attendees to join Rabbi Krakoff inside to shake 
the lulav and etrog and recite the prayers.
JARC Director of Philanthropy Jenny Kabert 
said it was special to watch everyone greet one 
another, and the people JARC serves were truly 
happy to be together. She shared, “Sukkot is 
an important holiday and the people we serve 
who are Jewish enjoyed celebrating in a festive, 
outdoor environment surrounded by friends 
— what could be better! And for those who 
attended who aren’t Jewish, it was a fun party 
with music, games, cider and donuts. It was a 
win all around.
”
