instrumentalist Ethan Daniel 
Davidson. The album was 
released on Sept. 30, 2022, 
from Blue Arrow Records. 
His songs are vivid

and bohemian escapades. 

The Historical Society of Michigan announced its 2022 State 
History Award winners. The Society presents the State History 
Awards every year to individuals and organizations that have 
made outstanding contributions to the appreciation, collection, 
preservation and/or promotion of state and local history. 
Distinguished Volunteer Service Award went to Risha B. Ring of 
Bloomfield Hills, immediate past president of the Jewish 
Historical Society of Michigan.

Laura Gottlieb, archivist for 
Temple Beth El, and Robbie

were just awarded the State 
History Award for Institutions 
at the recent annual meeting 
of the Historical Society of 
Michigan. The award was for 
their work to create the Center 
for Michigan Jewish Heritage, 
which is a collaboration 
between the Temple Beth El 
and Simon archives.

Yuval Sharon has been 
named to the 2022 TIME100 
Next list. He is the Gary L. 
Wasserman artistic director of 
Detroit Opera and the founder 
and co-artistic director of The 
Industry in Los Angeles. The 
recipient of both a MacArthur 
Fellowship and a Foundation for 
Contemporary Arts grant in Theatre, Sharon 
is among the most in-demand and innova-
tive names in opera today. In naming Sharon 
to the TIME100 Next list, TIME highlighted 
his work with Detroit Opera, including his 
productions of La Bohème and Act III of 
Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre. TIME also 
named Detroit one of the world’s greatest 
places in 2022.
