For women who may
have limited or no comput-
er skills and want to boost
their success with future job
applications, Gesher Human
Services will be running its
new Springboard to Success
program. The free seven-week
program will be held in per-
son at the organization’s head-
quarters (29699 Southfield
Road, Southfield) and will
begin with an informational
meeting on Oct. 20 from 9-11
a.m.
Springboard to Success
combines Gesher’s successful
Women to Work program,
which provides women with
resume help, job search
advice and counseling, with
basic computer training on
Microsoft 2016 Word and
Excel. Class size is limited and
interested participants should
reach out to class coordinator
Judy Richmond by calling
(248) 233-4232 or emailing
jrichmond@geshermi.org.
“For job seekers today,
computer skills are vital
— both for the actual job
search process and to be a
credible candidate for many
positions,” said Richmond,
employment specialist and
Women to Work coordinator.
“We are providing current
technology skills, combined
with job search assistance and
counseling, to help women
be successful in searching for
employment even if the job
market does become tighter.”
Classes will provide partici-
pants with:
• In-depth vocational assess-
ment
• Employment-related group
counseling and emotional
support plus stress manage-
ment
• Information and referrals to
support services
• Computer training on
Microsoft 2016 Office Word
and Excel Basics
• Help with networking,
resume writing and inter-
viewing
• Financial management
advice
The computer training por-
tion of the program will run
on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 1-3: 30 p.m. and the
Women to Work portion on
Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-
noon. The program will be
completed on Dec. 14.
