Monday Night
Experience

program for students.

On Monday, Oct. 10, Temple
Israel will host a Special
Monday Night Sukkot
Experience for all middle
and high school students to
learn about the importance
of recycling plastic materials
and to build a Sukkah out of
recycled plastics.
“We are using the idea
of Sukkot to make an
eco-friendly statement,
” said
Rabbi Josh Bennett of Temple
Israel.
The cost to attend the
event is to bring a garbage
bag full of recyclable plastics
and Styrofoam. The event
was put together by the tem-
ple’s youth group, Quest.
The event will start with
a short documentary titled
Plastic Wars. “It’s about the
issues of plastics all over the
oceans and the world that are
unfortunately polluting the
universe and causing all sorts
of dangers and problems in
ecosystems,” Bennett said.
After the documentary,
the teens will build a sukkah
made from recycled materials.
“We will use the plastic
bottles and turn them into
what are known as eco bricks
and have it stand up next to
the temple’s sukkah to teach
the community about envi-
ronmental issues,” Bennett
said.
