ENID C. GRAUER 
(nee Lappin), of 
Huntington 
Woods and Novi, 
passed away July 
27, 2022. 
She was born March 1, 
1940, and raised in Detroit; 
she graduated from Mumford 
High School and the 
University of Michigan, where 
she majored in history and 
French.
Following marriage to Rick, 
she taught French to fourth- 
and fifth-graders in subur-
ban Washington, D.C., for 
several years, later returning 
to Huntington Woods with 
Rick to raise three children. 
When the youngest started 
kindergarten, she resumed her 
formal education, securing a 
master’s degree in social work 

(community organization) 
from Wayne State University. 
She then served as a major 
gifts officer for many years, 
first for Henry Ford Hospital 
and later for the School of 
Architecture at University of 
Detroit Mercy. Enid’s person-
ality, communication skills 
and persuasiveness enabled 
her to develop cordial rela-
tionships with prospective 
donors, both individuals and 
foundations. Finding and gen-
erating interest by prospective 
donors in worthy projects 
gave Enid great satisfaction.
Mrs. Grauer loved nature, 
adventure trips, gardening, 
cooking, reading and listening 
to classical music. 
She is survived by her hus-
band, Rick; daughter, Tresa 
(Avi); son, David (Carolyn); 

daughter, Diane (Danny); six 
grandchildren, several cousins, 
nieces and nephews. 
Interment was at Clover 
Hill Park. Contributions may

SYLVIA LAWSON, 101, of 
Birmingham, died July 21, 
2022.
She is survived by her 
sons and daughters-in-law, 
Steven and Brandy Miller, 
and Neil and Stacey Miller; 
grandchildren, Andy and 

Natalie Miller, Evan Miller 
and fiancee, Mandy Keenan, 
Paige Miller and Mike 
Shimchick, and Rachel and 
Ben Delaney; great-grand-
children, Jack, Charlie, Max, 
Mason and Marlowe Miller, 
Rosie Shimchick and Brody 
Delaney; many loving nieces 
and nephews. 
Mrs. Lawson was the 
beloved wife of the late Lewis 
Miller and the late Jack 
Lawson; the loving sister of 
the late Arnold Schafer and 
the late Viola Miller. 
Interment was at Clover Hill 
Park Cemetery. Contributions
