Honored guests at the groundbreaking included
WWII veterans and original “Rosie the Riveters,” as well
as more than a dozen military organizations, including
the Tuskegee Airmen, American Legion, Veterans of
Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans.
A swell of patriotism was felt by all upon the arrival of
active servicemen and women from the Air Force, Coast
Guard, Navy and Merchant Marines. Plus, there was
an impressive outpouring of support by more than two
dozen current and former local, state and U.S. elected
officials in attendance.
