There wasn’
t a Howard
Weingarten Memorial
Baseball Outing this year
because of the COVID-19
pandemic, but three awards
were presented in his honor.
 Three players from the
Detroit PAL Diamond Sports
Program’
s Tiny Tigers pro-
gram for youngsters ages 4-8
received Howard Weingarten
Memorial Awards for leader-
ship, teamwork and responsi-
bility. The award winners were
selected by coaches.
 The awards presentation
were presented Oct. 15 on
Zoom and included a video
made by PAL of the Tiny
Tigers program.
“The video was adorable and
touching,
” said Deby Lebow,
Weingarten’
s longtime signifi-
cant other, who organized the
inaugural outing last year. She
said the awards will be present-
ed annually.
Lebow and Robert
Jamerson, Detroit PAL
’
s CEO,
spoke during the awards cer-

emony.
“We wanted people to see
how their donations last year
in Howard’
s honor benefited
the Tiny Tigers program,
”
Lebow said.
The inaugural outing was
held Aug. 31, 2019, at The
Corner Ballpark, former site of
Tiger Stadium.
 Donations can be sent
to Detroit PAL-Howard
Weingarten Memorial, 1680
Michigan Ave., Detroit, MI
48216, or made online at
detroitpal,org/givenow/,
adding “Howard Weingarten
Memorial” in the comments
section.
Weingarten, a West
Bloomfield resident and Det-
roit Tigers fan, died in a car
accident in late 2018 at age 65.

It’
s been a busy few
weeks for Mike Stone.
He won the
Michigan Jewish Sports
Foundation’
s raffle for a
trip to the 2021 Masters
golf tournament, and
he got a new partner for his
sports talk radio show on 97.1
The Ticket.
“I didn’
t watch the raffle
drawing online. I was floored
and thrilled when I found out
I won,
” he said. “I’
ve covered
a lot of sports events in my
career, but I’
ve never been
to the Masters. If fans are
allowed, I will definitely be
there.
”
Stone said he enters the
Masters raffle each year. He’
s a
foundation board member.
Former Clawson High

School, University of
Michigan and Detroit
Lions football player Jon
Jansen is Stone’
s new
radio partner on the
“Stoney and Jansen with
Heather (Park)” show
from 6-10 a.m. weekdays on
The Ticket. Jamie Samuelsen,
Stone’
s former radio show
partner and longtime close
friend, died of colon cancer
Aug. 1 at age 48.
“Nobody can replace Jamie
on the show, but I’
m excited to
work with Jon,
” Stone said. “He
offers a different perspective
than I can because he’
s played
sports at the highest level.
”
Stone and Samuelsen did the
“Jamie and Stoney Show” for
four years on The Ticket.
