DR. IRA J. 
FIRESTONE, 78, 
of Bloomfield 
Hills, died May 7, 
2020.
He was a 
professor of psychology at 
Wayne State University for 
almost 50 years. He was also 
an avid stamp collector, an 
opera lover and a dedicat-
ed volunteer at the Detroit 
Institute of Arts and the 
Bloomfield Township Public 
Library.
Dr. Firestone is survived 
by his wife of 46 years, Joan 
Firestone; daughters and 
son-in-law, Beatrix and 
Steven Stern, and Liana Lane; 
son and daughter-in-law, Ari 
Firestone and Delquin Gong; 
grandchildren, Abigail and 
Helen Stern, Taryn and Bryce

He was the loving brother

Historical Society.
