GARY ALAN 
SCHWARTZ, 69, 
of Newport 
Beach, Calif., for-
merly of West 
Bloomfield, died 
Feb. 15, 2020. 
Gary loved to be around 
people. He was loved by 
many at his community in 
California. His friends con-
sidered him family and or a 
mentor. 
He was a semi-pro golf-
er, an excellent salesman, a 
black lab lover and a truly 
wonderful father, brother 
and friend. On his best day, 
he could be found in the 
pool, the hot tub or with a 
tennis racquet or golf clubs. 
He will be missed by all who 
knew and loved him. He 
lived like a rock star and will 
never be forgotten due to his 
legacy.

Mr. Schwartz is survived 
by his daughters, Brittani 
Schwartz and Ellery Droz-
Schwartz; brother, Robert 
(Christine); sister, Lynda 
(Douglas) Thal; many nieces, 
nephews and friends.
He was the son of the late 
Flora Kaufman and the late 
Louis Schwartz.
Oceanside services were 
held in Newport Beach by 
his friends of more than 20 
years who considered him 
family. Contributions may 
be made in his name or in 
his dog Tammy’
s name, to 
Michigan Humane Society.

BERNARD SHERMAN, 98, 
of West Bloomfield, died 
Feb. 15, 2020. 
He is survived by his 
sons and daughters-in-law, 

Richard and Linda Sherman,

Sherman; grandchildren,

dear daughter of the late 
Delbert (Butch) Phillips and 
Lois Phillips Graunstadt; 

dear sister of the late Tracie 
Phillips; cherished grand-
mother of Victoria Reigh and 
Christine Nichole.

EDITH 
SIMMONS, 87, 
of Southfield, 
died Feb. 8, 2020. 
More than 
40 years ago, 
Edith placed her seat belt 
on as she looked out at Ben-
Gurion Airport. She was 
leaving Israel for home in 
the USA. Her emotions were 
mixed as she did not want to 
leave. Inwardly, she felt that 
Israel was now her home. 
She mentioned time and 
time again how she felt that
