arold Kusnetz turned 95 on 
Dec. 23, 2019. He enjoys 
woodworking, volunteer-
ing as a server and greeter at 
Congregation Shaarey Zedek and, 
most of all, spending time with 
his children, grandchildren and 
great-grandchild. The family wishes 
him happiness and continued good 
health.

ydney Harris will turn 97 on 
Jan. 6, 2020. He fought at 
the Battle of the Bulge, spent 
months of recovery from shrapnel 
wounds and attended optometry 
school in Chicago. He operated a 
successful practice for more than 
40 years. He greatly enjoy his fam-
ily and took pleasure in playing golf 
and traveling the world. Friends 
and family, especially daughter 
Cherri and son-in-law Bill, wish 
him many, many more happy 
days.

AUG. 9, 2019 
Liza (Shiffman) and Brenner Sandberg of the great-
er Minneapolis area joyfully announce the birth 
of their son, Zachary Maynard (Sholem Moishe). 
Overjoyed grandparents are Joanna Sandberg del 
Castillo and Jon Sandberg of Excelsior, Minn., and 
Marla and Irv Shiffman of West Bloomfield. Sharing in their 
joy is great-grandma (“G.G.”) Sheila Garber of Farmington 
Hills. Zach is named in loving memory of his great-grandpas, 
Solomon “Sol” Garber and Maynard “Mickey” Sandberg.
