Jews in the D
Joining Forces to
Make an Impact

Partnership2Gether and FIDF to help
with IMPACT! Scholarships for veterans.
I

srael is central to Detroit
because since 1994, the
Jewish Federation of Metro-
politan Detroit has partnered
with cities in Israel in a region
known as the Central Gali-
lee. This Partnership2Gether
(P2G) participation has created
long-lasting relationships that
have strengthened both com-
munities.
Thousands of lives have been
touched by P2G programs
like Teen Mission, the Detroit
Community Taglit-Birthright
Israel and the Israeli Camper
Program, which brings the
largest contingent of Israeli
campers anywhere in the U.S.
to Michigan.

Recently the FIDF IMPACT!
Scholarship Program and
the Federation announced a
new partnership on behalf
of IDF veterans from Michi-
gan’
s P2G region.
Now, the donation of an
IMPACT! Scholarship spon-
sorship can go directly to a stu-
dent from the Central Galilee
region.
The IMPACT! Scholarship
Program grants four-year aca-
demic scholarships to IDF vet-
erans from low socioeconomic
backgrounds. It also provides
funds to cover living expenses
while they study and gives them
the unique benefit of direct
contact with their sponsors in

the United States.
In return, scholarship recip-
ients must complete 130 hours
of community service per year.
This contribution to their com-
munities and completion of a
higher education degree help to
advance Israel’
s economy.

For more information and to make
an IMPACT! Scholarship gift, contact
Paula Lebowitz, FIDF MI chapter direc-
tor, at (248) 926-4110 or paula.lebow-
itz@fidf.org. (This story first appeared
