to reddish amber. Top fer-

roadway is thriving with
a large variety of lively
musicals, socially relevant
dramas, historical depictions
and clever comedies. Below are
currently running shows as well
as what’
s opening in early 2020,
all with a Jewish connection.

BROADWAY
Derren Brown: Secret features
the extraordinary British men-
talist Derren Brown, who cap-
tivates and entertains the audi-
ence by reading their thoughts.
Written by Brown, along with
magician and mentalist Andy
Nyman and magician Andrew
O’
Connor, random people in
the audience are called on stage
to participate. It’
s hard not to
exit the theater asking, “How
does he do it?”
Oak Park native Jeffrey
Seller (Hamilton, Rent, In the
Heights) is one of the produc-
ers, and he knew it would be
a hit. “When I first saw Secret
at the Atlantic, it was clear to
me that a talent like Derren’
s
is once in a lifetime,” Seller
says. “Introducing Derren to
a wider audience on Broadway
and watching his unrivaled
skill win over audience after
audience has been a delight.”

Closes Jan. 4. Cort Theatre.
(212) 239-6200.
Freestyle Love Supreme, an
improv show created by Lin-
Manuel Miranda, Thomas Kail
(who also directs) and Anthony
Veneziale, was written before
there was Hamilton. Featuring
a talented cast and special
surprise guests, the audience
is asked to participate. The
90-minute show is filled with
humor, musical numbers, rap-
ping and more, without
a script. Closes Jan. 5.
Booth Theatre. (212)
239-6200.
