The 2017 and 2018 trips included tours of two of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology’ s most ambi- tious institutional collaborations. Volunteers of all ages are needed for both events, with no registration required; students taking part can receive community service credit. “Our backpacks help alleviate some of the stress associated with going back to school for local chil- dren in need and their parents,” said Jennifer LoPatin, president of NCJW|MI, a social advocacy and grassroots volunteer organization which has been operating in Metro Detroit for 128 years.
