The program begins with the world premiere of composer Juliet Palmer’ s Oil & Water — a piece commissioned by the DSO through the Elaine Lebenbom Memorial Award for Female Composers, which Palmer won in the 2017-2018 Season. JUNE 7-9 FORGOTTEN HARVEST COMEDY NIGHT Comedian Jim Gaffigan will headline the 27th annual Comedy Night hosted by Forgotten Harvest. The nonprofit, which collects 40 million pounds of food annually from local markets, farmers, caterers and food wholesalers for redistribution, was started by the Jewish community, led by Nancy Fishman, in 1990. Rabbi Paul Yedwab of Temple Israel, a founding board member, came up with the name, and Hannan Lis was the former board chair. Gaffigan is known around the world for his unique brand of humor, which largely revolves around fatherhood and his observations on life and food.
