The upper level is filled with the work of 29 art- ists from Michigan whose pieces reflect the theme of Origins, Heritage and Beginnings. Based on the Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, The Little Mermaid, released in 1989, has a book by Doug Wright, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman (written for the film), with additional lyrics by Glenn Slater.
