Adat Shalom Group Helps Ease Life for IDF Soldiers

During an Adat Shalom Synagogue
trip to Israel earlier in the year, they
visited the IDF 75th Battalion of
the Armored Brigade base near the
Lebanon border, arranged by the
Friends of the IDF Michigan Chapter.
“We spent an afternoon with the tal-
ented young men and women who put
their lives at risk daily defending the
State of Israel and were able to achieve
a better understanding of the many
dangers and challenges they face,” said
participant Mickey Levin. The group

also saw the latest technology in tanks
and had a rare opportunity to see doc-
tors and medics in an actual medical
emergency exercise.
Impressed with what they saw, the
group gathered a $3,000 donation to
the FIDF — given a few weeks ago —
for the construction of a much-needed
mobile “leisure corner,” a place for
the soldiers to take a break from their
everyday surroundings, relax and
recharge their batteries during their
“down time” on the base.
