Stand with Israel — In Israel

Get an insider’s view of the lifestyle,
culture, and pulse of Israel. Spend
one or more weeks living and work-
ing on an IDF base alongside Israelis
and volunteers from around the
world.
Volunteers for Israel (VFI) part-
ners with the Israeli organization Sar-
El to process and prepare Americans
to volunteer on Israel Defense Forces
(IDF) supply and logistics bases.
Sar-El is an acronym for the Hebrew
words Sherut L’Yisrael (Service to
Israel).
There are several types of volun-
teer program options.
The basic Sar-El Program can be 1,
2 or 3 weeks living, and working, on
an army base, performing non-com-
bat tasks. The program begins on
Sunday morning and ends in the

afternoon on Thursday each week.
On weekends, participants are free
and can travel within Israel.
VFI now offers three ways to vol-
unteer on an IDF Army Base with
Sar El and to also tour Israel with
a professional Israeli guide, includ-
ing trips to archaeological digs and
unusual, off-the-beaten-path sites.
Kosher meals, lodging and work
clothes are provided to volunteers
on all IDF bases. Volunteers pay for
transportation to and from Israel and
for weekends or for VFI Plus touring
expenses.
There is space available on all 2019
programs.
