Yad Ezra hosted its annual fundraiser
Oct. 8 at Adat Shalom Synagogue
in Farmington Hills. Honorees were
Ellen and David Sherman; co-chairs
were Karen and Jeff Schoenberg, and
Larry Tisdale.
Revenue raised is used to purchase
groceries distributed to the 1,300
client families who come to Yad Ezra
every month.
A brief program paid tribute to
the Shermans; recognized Addie
Levine, recipient of the Diane and
Emery (z”l) Klein Volunteer of the
Year Award; gave details of Yad Ezra’s
latest initiative, the Poland Pantry

Project, from Board President Jeff
Supowit; and honored Executive
Director Lea Luger for 25 years of
service.
David Sherman joined Yad Ezra’s
board in 2013, has served on a vari-
ety of committees and was instru-
mental in helping present Yad Ezra’s
plan for its Giving Gardens to the
Fisher Foundation to consider fund-
ing. He and Ellen have been strong
advocates and supporters of Yad
Ezra, along with a variety of other
efforts to help those vulnerable in the
greater Detroit community. ■

“Living with varicose veins can
be incredibly frustrating. The
good news for patients is that
most insurance companies will
cover the cost. And if you’ve met
your deductible, it’s wise to get
your treatment done before
it resets in the new year.”
