Michael Karson is the new president
and CEO of Area Agency on Aging
1-B, which provides direct and indirect
services to older and disabled adults,
including in-home care, Meals on Wheels
(home-delivered meals), wellness classes,
Medicare and Medicaid assistance, along
with caregiver support. Karson has broad experience
in health care delivery. He previously served in exec-
utive-level positions at United Health Care and HAP,
Center for Senior Independence and Brookdale Senior
Living.
Sara Smoler, formerly of West
Bloomfield, was recently recognized
on Forbes 30 Under 30 Marketing &
Advertising List for 2019. She manages
new business development at Ogilvy
Advertising Agency in New York. Sara led
the agency to secure business from many
clients such as Coca-Cola, Nationwide and Kimberly-
Clark. She also forged a partnership between Ogilvy
and Columbia University’s Start-Up Lab, providing
pro-bono marketing consulting to recent graduates’
companies.
