DOROTHY TENDLER, nee Wiener,
88, formerly of Southfield, of Chicago,
Ill., died Oct. 12, 2018.
Dorothy’s parents emigrated from
Poland to Havana, Cuba, to Detroit.
Dorothy was born March 25, 1930, in
Cuba and lived there until she was 14
years old.
She found a home and was very
active in the Jewish community of
Detroit, first at Pioneer Women and
later at Na’amat, taking on just about
every role from treasurer to president.
Mrs. Tendler cared deeply about her
community and took great pride not

only in her role as an organizer, but
also in the greater social community.
She also worked in the wholesale
apparel and accessory business for
several years, which she greatly
enjoyed.
Dorothy was the glue in the family,
bringing everyone together for
holidays, birthdays and family events.
She was much loved and will be greatly
missed by everyone she touched with
her spirit.
Mrs. Tendler was the loving
mother of Diane (Andy) Lappin
of Glencoe, Ill., and Miriam (Eric
Grunebaum) Tendler of Cambridge,
Mass.; cherished grandma of Lauren,
Danielle, Alex, Michela and Noah;
treasured sister of Jack (Arlette)
Wiener; much-loved aunt to many
nieces and nephews.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Jack Tendler for more than 67 years;
fond sister-in-law of the late Norman
(Nicky) Tendler and the late Lorraine
(Saul) Ruebin.

Graveside services were held at
Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington
Heights, Ill. Contributions may be
made to Na’amat, naamat.org.

ALAN HARRIS
WALTMAN, 65, of
Vancouver, B.C., died
Nov. 4, 2018.
He is survived by his
sons and daughter-in-law,
Matthew Waltman, Joshua
and Sarah Waltman; grandchildren,
Norah and Hudson Waltman; brothers
and sister-in-law, Richard Waltman, Jay
Waltman, David and Ruth Waltman;
nieces and nephews, Jesse and Jessica;
great-niece and great-nephew, Ella and
Samuel.
Mr. Waltman was the loving son of the
late Louis and Janet Waltman.
Interment was at Schara Tzedeck
Cemetery, New Westminster, B.C.

SEYMOUR ZACK, 87, of West
Bloomfield, died Nov. 3, 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Zack;
children, Billy Zack of West Bloomfield,
Susan and Benni Arnstein of Antwerp,
Belgium, Edmund R. and Judy Zack
of West Hemstead, N. Y.; brothers and
sister-in-law, David and Elaine Zack,
Jerry Zack; 10 grandchildren; numerous
great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Sol and Frances Levine.
Mr. Zack was the loving father of
the late Joseph Zack; dear brother and
brother-in-law of the late Ricky Zack, the
late Betty and the late Nathan Pack, and
the late Pat Zack.
