RUBY BRIDGES

In 1960, surrounded by Federal marshals, 6-year-old Ruby Bridges became
the first African American student to integrate an all-white elementary school
in the South — despite the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark ruling in Brown
v. the Board of Education of Topeka, Kan., ending racial segregation in public
schools in 1954. Four years later, Norman Rockwell immortalized the moment
in the Civil Rights movement when his painting The Problem We All Live With
appeared on the cover of Look magazine. Hear the lifelong activist tell her story
at An Evening with Ruby Bridges at the Henry Ford in Dearborn. $42.50-$50.
