Joanne earned a bachelor’s degree and a mas- ter’s degree in education from Oakland University and was an elementary school teacher in the Royal Oak School District for 43 years. A devoted, ener- getic teacher, Joanne touched the lives of generations of students in second through fifth grade. Mrs. Canavan is survived and lovingly remembered by her sister, Beverly Kikoler (the late David); niece, Jennifer Kikoler; nephew, Jason (Misty) Kikoler; great-niece, Zoey; sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Wallace, Kathleen (Fred) Egner and Maureen (Ray) Posik; nieces and nephews, aunt and cousins.
