NURITH
ROTHSTEIN, 81,
passed away May 9,
2018.
She was a lovely
person who exuded
kindness and gener-
osity and approached life with joy
and excitement. Her family was the
most important thing to her and the
love between them was absolute. She
had a great sense of adventure that
enriched everyone around her.
In the early 1930s, her parents
moved from the U.S. to what is now
Israel, where Nurith was born on
March 23, 1937, on Kibbutz Ein
Hashofet. Her parents, Nathan and
Marcia Fish, were founders of this
kibbutz. After several years in the
Middle East, they moved back to the
U.S. Nurith grew up in New England
in the Boston, Mass., area, New
London, Conn., and Bangor, Maine,
surrounded by family. She shared
her childhood with her parents, her
brother Manny and with her cousins
Gert, Lyn and Sylvia as well as other
family and friends. Her parents were
involved in Jewish education and her
father eventually became a rabbi.
As a teenager in the early 1950s,
she moved to Queens, where she
attended high school at Forest Hills.
At the age of 17, she met Howard
Rothstein, and they married in 1956.
They were married for more than 50
years.
Nurith and Howard moved to
Shelburne, Vt., in 1963; Howard
