JAMES STEVEN
FLEISCHER died
Sept. 20, 2018.
Jim was born in
Detroit and was
an avid fan of the
Pistons, Lions and
Michigan Wolverines. He loved the
Motor City and was proud of the
cars it produced. Even after retiring
to South Florida, he continued to
brag about the city of his birth.
He graduated from Western
Military Academy in Alton, Ill., and
served in the U.S. Army, stationed
in Germany and San Francisco.
Mr. Fleischer was the owner of
Oliver Street Collision in Troy and
Maxie Collision of Farmington
Hills.
He believed in serving his com-
munity, supporting SADD and
youth sports teams and was hon-
ored to serve as president of the
Farmington Rotary. His energy and
humor will be missed.
He will be forever remembered
by his children, Gabrielle Fleischer,
Edye and son-in-law, Mike Graning;
grandchildren, Josh and Aaron
Graning; many nieces and nephews.
His former wife, Shula Fleischer,
survives him.
He was predeceased by his sister,
Margarite “Bobbie” Kirsch.

JOSEPH NORMAN
FREEMAN, 87, of
West Hills, Calif., died
Sept. 18, 2018.
He was a former
Eagle Scout, veteran
of the Korean War era,
and longtime activist and volunteer
with the Valley Village organization
for the developmentally disabled.
Mr. Freeman is survived by his
beloved wife of 59 years, Joan
Rosenthal Freeman; son, Eddie
Freeman; sister, Adell White; broth-
er-in-law, Jules Rosenthal; many
nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews.
He was the devoted son of the

late Eli and Miriam Freeman;
brother of the late Shirley
Steinhardt; son-in-law of the late
Rose Rosenthal Benesh; brother-
in-law of the late Stanley White, Al
Steinhardt, Frank Rosenthal, Eileen
Rosenthal and Dorothy Rosenthal.
Interment was at Eden Memorial
Park, Mission Hills, Calif.

of Southfield, died
Sept. 25., 2018.
He is survived
by his beloved wife
of 60 years, Phyllis: son, Jon

(Richard) Arends; grandchildren,
Benny and Shana Goodman, and
Wesley Arends; other loving rela-

Mr. Goodman was the loving
