Tischler 75th

P

auline and
Harold Tischler
celebrated their
75th anniversary on
July 18, 2018. The
couple met in London,
Ontario, Canada, and
eloped to Toronto
to be married in
1943. With their two
daughters, born in
1946 and 1950, the
young family moved
to Detroit. The couple
have resided at The
Park at Trowbridge
since March 1, 2013.
One special guest marking the anniversary was professional singer Dorothy
Martin, who came to serenade them with a few Sinatra songs. Gaye Tischler
(Frank Castronova) and Laurie Tischler Beals (Robert) are proud to call this
couple their parents. They are the grandparents of Wendy Beals Nielsen
(Michael), Elizabeth Van Dusen (Brett) and Lauren Beals. Kaela and Olivia
are their great-granddaughters. •

Increasingly, the case is being made for children to start orthodontic treatment before
they reach adolescence. As a result, some orthodontists report that they are seeing
25% more patients under the age of eleven than they did just a few years ago.
While problems with teeth and jaws may be corrected at any age, there are some
compelling reasons to get an early jump on them. For one, because young growing
teeth and bones are more pliable than older ones, they lend themselves to greater
changes in a shorter period of time. Early treatment may also reduce the risk
of relapse because teeth and bones that complete their growth under
treatment are set more solidly in their positions.

Every orthodontist’s philosophy is a little different, but most agree that when treatment
is begun at an early age, teeth can be moved into their proper positions more easily,
with less physical discomfort for your child, and better retention after the braces come
off. Compliance may also be easier to obtain, as younger patients are more anxious
to cooperate depending upon maturity. Of course, having a nicer smile earlier also
contributes to a better self-image for the child.

When is the right time for
my child to have full braces?

Whether your child is ready for full braces at an earlier age can only be determined
on an individual basis and much depends upon their eruption pattern and sequence.
This is why orthodontists recommend a consultation appointment to see
what is best for your child.
