Cancer Thrivers To Host
‘Celebrating Life’ Luncheon

The Cancer Thrivers Network
for Jewish Women, a program of
Jewish Family Service of Metro
Detroit, will host an internation-
ally recognized oncologist and
cancer researcher at a fundraising
luncheon Wednesday, Aug. 8.
The “Celebrating Life” event,
at noon at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek in Southfield, will feature
speaker Dr. Clifford Hudis, CEO of
the American Society of Clinical
Oncology. He previously was chief
of breast medicine service at
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer
Center in New York City. Attendees
will hear about the latest scientific
advances in cancer research as
well as real-world challenges.
“While we are guided by Jewish

values and traditions, we welcome
anyone interested in learning more
about cancer research or in need
of cancer support to this event,”
said Cancer Thrivers founder
Sandy Schwartz. “Funds raised will
help our organization continue to
offer programs, help advocate for
patients and provide warm friend-
ships that are so critical to the
healing process.”
