Joe Muer Seafood
Bloomfi eld Hills
celebrates one-year
anniversary.

Really? Many people who
lived, worked or visited in
the regions that surrounded
it were thrilled to learn that
a second Joe Muer Seafood
restaurant would be coming
to the site of Kingsley Inn,
Woodward and Long Lake
Road, Bloomfield Hills.
To offer one of the best
selections of seafood much like
yesteryears … and much more
… Raw bar, sushi bar, etc., and
would also enable them to go
to either Joe Muer Seafood
at the Renaissance Center in
Detroit … or the new Joe Muer
Seafood Bloomfield Hills.
Now enjoying its first anni-
versary, Joe Muer Seafood has
surpassed all visions expected
or hoped for.
It was projected to offer, like
Downtown Detroit’s locale,
another wonderful dining
experience as they might have
had at the former favorite spot
on old Gratiot, Detroit … but
never the unbelievable atten-
dance that it now embraces
… Where people can get their
coveted stuffed flounder or so
many can close their eyes and
savor a choice lobster tail.
It is now also interesting to
see … People seem to want to
try things from the raw bar …
from the sushi bar … from the
varied items as in the same
menu as Downtown Detroit
… Whatever the reasons, they
made for a different type of
visit … Seeing old friends …
next-door neighbors … spend-

ing more time laughing …
No hurry in most cases … no
dashing back to work … no
hastening to catch a show
or whatever … no rushing to
catch a plane … Neighborhood
dining seems to have a way of
more relaxed togetherness …
Joe Muer Seafood Bloomfield
Hills has accomplished a set-
ting of relaxation in another
way to better health and easy
living … while giving the very
utmost possible in selective
menu choices without need-
less hurry.
Joe Muer Seafood Bloomfield
Hills is accomplishing exactly
what people need to enjoy the
full benefits that neighborhood
dining affords while satisfying
many palates.
Waving hello to friends and
relatives at other tables has
ways of saying, “This is liv-
ing!” … While its Downtown
sister restaurant has its own
features … Joe Muer Seafood
Bloomfield Hills in its first year
as a neighborhood seafood eat-
ery has again proven this to be
so very true.
READER MINI REVIEW …
From Jerry Naftaly … “Several
friends and I shared an enjoy-
able dinner at Oak Park’s icon-
ic Eddie’s Gourmet Restaurant,
located on Greenfield and
Lincoln Boulevard. I have been
there many times and always
enjoyed the large portions and
quality of the food. This time,
I enjoyed the lemon rice soup
and savored the fresh Lake

THE GALLERY RESTAURANT

Daily Special to choose from for lunch & dinner…

Superior whitefish with lemon
butter, garlic and dry vermouth
sauce. The large portion was
delicious and lives up to its
reputation. Jim Luxton enjoyed
spaghetti topped with fresh
Atlantic salmon prepared in
a tomato cream sauce. Kim
Soave chose and loved the
tasty grilled chicken salad with
crisp iceberg lettuce, diced
tomatoes, Mexican blend of
cheese and honey mustard
dressing. Michael Soave greatly
relished his very large strips of
crispy but very tender deep-
fried chicken breast, streak
fry potatoes and homemade
honey mustard dressing. We
also got a large portion of
Roma pasta, which Eddie said
was his own recipe of our fla-
vorsome mixture of Ziti noo-
dles tossed with cream, Eddie’s
own sauce, fresh basil, mush-
rooms and carrots topped with
chicken breast. We again thor-
oughly enjoyed our wonderful
meals there.”
MUCH EXCITEMENT WAS
in the air when a story hit this
area that Monroe Street in
Greektown, Detroit, would be
closed off to traffic for outside
street dining during a period
of the summer months …
Flaming Saganaki, Opa! amid
much frivolity would fill the
air in accompaniment to the
favored dining selections …
The rumor started by one of
the Greek restaurant owners
never did happen for whatever
reason … Too bad … Sounds

like it would have been a lot of
fun … Tony Hadjisofroniou at
Uptown Parthenon has been
toying with a similar idea.
HE’S CALLED the Crab
King by many … With Dan
Dunsky, owner of O’Brien’s
Crabhouse on Opdyke Road
between South Boulevard and
Auburn Road, Auburn Hills,
putting up yearly numbers like
more than 8,000 pounds a year
of crab legs and 1,400 pounds
of crab meat … Also, king crab,
snow crab, Dungeness crab,
stone crab, soft shell crab, crab
cakes, crab imperial, spicy crab
soup, crab-stuffed flounder
and crab-stuffed shrimp … But
Dan’s bestseller is the perch
piccata over rice pilaf.
OLDIE BUT GOODIE …
Blunders in synagogue news-
letter … “Ladies of Hadassah
have cast off clothing of every
kind, and they may be seen in
the basement on Tuesdays. ”
… “Weight Watchers will
meet at 7 p.m. Please use the
large double doors at the side
entrance.” … “A bean supper
will be held in the community
center. Music will follow.”
CONGRATS … To Lorraine
Bushman on her birthday
… To David Elbinger on his
80th birthday … To Bonnie
Nosanchuk on her birthday …
To Carolyn Nosanchuk on her
birthday. •
