n late May, the top equestrians
from around the country gath-
ered to compete at the historic
Devon Horse Show and County Fair
in Devon, Pa. Among the competitors
was Bloomfield Hills native Savonna
Adell, 12, who finished in the top 10
placings in her respective division
among some of the best riders in the
country.
Adell, daughter of Kevin Adell and
Joelle Luke, has competed at some
of the most prestigious events in
the country, including the Winter
Equestrian Festival and the ESP
Spring Series, but Devon has topped
the list as her favorite.
“To even qualify for a show as pres-
tigious as Devon is so exciting,” Adell
said. “It’s such a special venue, and it’s
so great to go and see some of the best
riders in the world compete. Devon
is definitely one of my favorite shows
after this weekend, and I look forward
to competing here more in the future.”

The iconic show is known as the
place “Where Champions Meet,”
accepting only the top 30 competi-
tors in the nation to compete in each
hunter division. This year, Adell quali-
fied for both the Medium Pony Hunter
and the Large Pony Hunter divisions,
with the support of her trainers, Gary,
Donna and Kelsey Duffy of Little
Brook Farms. Adell only moved up to
the Large Pony Hunter Division this
past April.
“Devon is something Savonna has
trained for all year, so seeing her hard
work pay off in the show ring is really
great,” Gary Duffy said. “It’s such a his-
toric event with the best competitors
in the country all going head-to-head.
It was a really great experience for
Savonna to be a part of the excite-
ment.”
Adell will continue to train and
compete on her multiple mounts
throughout the year and looks for-
ward to future competitions. •
