ANN SHAPIRO, 101, of
Southfield, died May 18,
2018.
She was born in Sioux
City, Iowa, on Oct. 31,
1916, the youngest of
four daughters born
to Russian immigrants
Ann Shapiro
Sam and Leah Lipton.
After Sam’s death, the
family moved to Chicago, where Ann met
and married Harry Shapiro.
Ann and Harry built a home and a life
in suburban Skokie, where they had four
children, Cynthia, Steven, Laurie and
Linda. Ann enjoyed the social and cultural
life of the Chicago area, including golf and
the Chicago Symphony.
Later, she and Harry moved to
Southfield to be near family.
Mrs. Shapiro is survived by a brother-
in-law, Abe Shapiro (Vivian); sister-in-law,
Norma Shapiro (the late David); daugh-
ter, Linda Gold (Steve); grandchildren,
Sara Gold (Dan Brooks), Daniel Gold;
great-granddaughter, Lilah Gold-Brooks;
numerous nieces and nephews; dear
friend, Shelly Simms (the late Irv).
Interment was at Great Lakes National

Mrs. Stein was the beloved wife of the
late Albert Stein; the sister of the late
Harold (the late Liz) Cantor; the sister-in-
law of the late Harry Katz.
Interment was held at B’nai Israel
Cemetery in Novi. Contributions may
