Meet New Yorker Cartoonist

Join the real-life characters of Flying
Couch, a graphic memoir by New
Yorker cartoonist Amy Kurzweil, for
a commemoration of the Holocaust
and the healing power of storytelling
and art.
She will be coming to the
Holocaust Memorial Center
Zekelman Family Campus at 7 p.m.,
Monday, May 7, for a Q & A, book
signing and light refreshments.
Flying Couch is about three
generations of Jewish women:
92-year-old survivor Lily Fenster,
born in Warsaw and living now in
Birmingham; her daughter Sonya
Kurzweil, a psychologist in private
practice and part-time faculty at
Harvard Medical School; and her
granddaughter Amy Kurzweil, the
author and artist.
Amy will discuss her book and
its creation and demonstrate the
unique experience of drawing
remembered stories. The evening
includes an introduction by Sonya,
