8PM May 4.

Earth Day is April 22, and JVS is doing
its collective part to preserve our envi-
ronment.
Throughout the year, area resi-
dents can safely and securely recycle
their unwanted electronics as part of
eCycle Opportunities (eCO) powered
by JVS.
In addition to recycling, the goal is
to protect personal and business data.
All electronics are accepted that
plug in, regardless of their condition
or working order, ranging from desk-
top computers and laptops to mobile
phones, monitors, copiers, desktop
printers and most electronic items
under 48 inches wide.
Residents can bring their electron-
ics to the south side of JVS, 29699
Southfield Road in Southfield, where
the program is hosted. Most items
are free to recycle; some items may
require a minimum charge.
Note that eCO is R2/RIOS certi-

fied and committed to data security
and protecting consumers’ personal
information. All computer hard drives
collected are shredded for safety
and security and/or wiped with data
destruction equipment that meets
NIST 800-88 “purge” and “clear” speci-
fications. A Certificate of Destruction
may also be requested.
Since JVS’ mission is to help people
meet life challenges in a variety of
ways, the program employs people
with barriers to employment, and all
proceeds benefit JVS programs that
serve people with disabilities. And
eCO partners with a variety of schools
and communities to host “green”
events.
The eCO program is open Tuesdays
from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the south
side of JVS’ headquarters. Individual
appointments can be made by calling
(248) 233-4477 or emailing info@
ecycleopps.org. Visit jvsdet.org. •

Attendees enjoyed
the show by
comic Evan Sayet.

Michigan Jewish Action Council
(MJAC) celebrated its first anniver-
sary with a sold-out event Sunday,
March 25, at the Monster Box
Theatre. Patron donors enjoyed a
pre-show catered meet-and-greet
with featured comedian Evan Sayet.
Sayet, a liberal Democrat turned
politically conservative, had a con-
vert’s over-developed critical assess-

ment of his former comrades.
After the performance, the audi-
ence retired to the lounge for coffee,
desserts and conversation, and a
book signing by Sayet.
MJAC advocates conservative
public policies based upon America’s
founding principles and traditional
Jewish thought. For more informa-
tion, visit MJAC.us. •
