An inspiration to so many, he was a “spiritual” man who loved nature and the beauty in everything. He will be deeply missed and always remembered by all. Mr. Garber was the adored husband of Kala; devoted father of Anastasia and Ashly; best Popi ever to Sofia, Ethan, Olivia, Josey Moon, Fritz and Jacky; sweet loving baby brother of Bobby and Jerry. MERLE HARRIS, 89, of Bloomfield Hills, died March 25, 2018. He was the owner of Merle Harris Investments. Prior to that, he owned Bar Steel as well as Harris Freshlabs, a vitamin manufacturer. Both businesses were sold at the height of their success. Mr. Harris was the chairman of the Junior Division of the Jewish Welfare Federation, the first recipient of the Wetsman Award, the president of Jewish Family Services, former chair of Sinai Hospital, chairman of the Allied Jewish Campaign, president of Huron Valley Sinai Hospital, president of Standard Club and Franklin Hills Country Club, chairman of Young Presidents Organization and the chair- man of the YPO Midwest Conference. He was also part of the first group hon- ored by Jewish Senior Life in its “8 over 80” tribute. Mr. Harris is survived by his chil- dren, Steven and Gina Harris of San Francisco, Calif., Jeffrey and Jamie Harris of New York, N.Y., and Julie Harris, also of New York, N.Y.; grand- children, Rachel Harris and her fiance, Benjamin Berg, and Daniel Harris; brother, Alfred Harris; his loving com- panion, Jacqueline Harris Gard. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Harris; the loving brother of the late Suzanne and the late Joseph Orley. Interment was at Beth El Memorial Park.
