buildings, referred to as “the box,”
and the workouts are extremely
varied. Levin’s CrossFit Bloomfield
opens daily at 5:45 a.m. and offers
up to 11 classes per day, including
the traditional CrossFit workouts,
private training, nutrition programs
and CrossFit Light, a 45-minute
high-intensity class utilizing kettle-
bells, TRX, ropes, rowing machines
and dumbbells suited for all ages
and athletic abilities.
Jordan prides himself on the gym’s
“non-intimidating environment” and
stresses that they “teach you how to
move safely, make sure you’re com-
fortable, and modify for everyone’s
individual bodies and needs.” Jordan
adds that while CrossFit may seem
challenging at first, he is passionate
about helping his clients accomplish
their fitness goals.
In fact, it was while accomplishing
one of his own fitness goals last year,
training and completing the Spartan
race, that he came across the idea to
engage even the youngest athletes
at CrossFit Bloomfield. In January,
Levin partnered with GRIT Obstacle
Training.

quite some time, and I thought this
would be a great way to expand our
business. We had been offering kids’
classes, but many kids are already
involved in so many after-school
activities. This was a way for us to
offer something unique to them.”
GRIT Obstacle Training parties
offer two hours of non-stop action
for kids, ages 4 and up. Cargo nets,
climbing walls, ninja steps, balance
beams, even hanging obstacle cours-
es, are all part of the fun.
Jordan and his staff run the activi-
ties for one hour and 20 minutes
and the remaining 40 minutes are
set aside for refreshments and gifts
in a private room. GRIT parties are
best suited for 10-25 kids, but Jordan
says they will host bar/bat mitzvahs
and corporate team-building events,
too. And, with 8,000 square feet
of open space, they certainly can
handle large events. Parties start at
$250 for 10 kids and are all private
(no other classes are held during the
party time).
Levin admits he really loves to see
the kids run around, getting active
in his gym. “It’s a great way to get
the whole family excited about fit-
ness — and exposed to CrossFit.” •
