DELECTABOWL
Seeking homemade goodness? Look
no further than Delectabowl, one of
the original Detroit-area food trucks.
The Comfort Bowl has been
the most popular item since they
rolled out their truck, featuring a
savory corn-bread base and slow-
cooked meat of the day topped with
Michigan cherry coleslaw, ched-
dar and a made-from-scratch BBQ
sauce. No bowl is complete without
a baked potato topped with all the
fixings.
Owners Katie Picard and Aaron
Tye also run Ferndale’s Detroit Fleat,
which features a house menu plus
food truck appearances during the
warmer months.

THE NOSH PIT DETROIT
This “little green truck” proves veg-
etables are far from boring. With an
epic vegan grilled-cheese sandwich,
zesty shakshuka and much more,
the Nosh Pit has something for
everyone. All items are also “Bubbie
approved” and full of flavor.
Owners Karen and Eric Schultz
and their longtime friend Stefan
Kudek have traveled far and wide
throughout the Metro Detroit area,
making regular appearances at the
Royal Oak Farmers Market Food
Truck Rally as well as endless fund-
raisers, local breweries and expos.
For more ways to nosh, get a
catering quote on their website or
enjoy more veggie-based delights at
the new Nosh Pit Detroit restaurant
at 2995 Yemans in Hamtramck.

C.A.Y.A. SMOKEHOUSE GRILL
Jeff Rose, chef and co-owner of
C.A.Y.A. restaurant in Wolverine
Lake, recently bought some new
wheels and is taking his cuisine on

the road. Not only is he a pro with
ribs and brisket, but his smoked
squash happens to be a best-seller.
At public events, patrons can
indulge in smoked brisket, turkey or
chicken, crisp salads and decadent
desserts straight from the truck. For
weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs and
more, Rose will work with families
to customize a menu that suits their
tastes.

THE MAC SHACK
You can never go wrong with mac ’n’
cheese, and this specialty truck has
a recipe that beats any boxed variety.
The Mac Shack happens to be one
of the original Detroit food trucks,
and co-owner Ben Beazley has been
drawing in crowds with his surefire
recipe and friendly service for years.
A regular at the Wayne State
University campus, Eastern Market,
the Royal Oak Farmers Market Food
Truck Rally and Detroit Fleat, the
truck offers mac varieties — plus dec-
adent garlic Parmesan fries — that
locals can’t seem to get enough of.
