Barry Fraser, district governor of Rotary District 6380, presents Holocaust survivor Martin Lowenberg with the Distinguished Service Award Dec. 3 at the Holocaust Memorial Center from Rotary Clubs of Ann Arbor and West Bloomfield. The award is the highest Rotary honor, given to those who have made significant contributions to the community. Lowenberg recounted his stories of survival and loss of family members during the Holocaust. “Let us hope an event like the Holocaust never happens again. I always say, ‘Hate hurts, but love heals,’” he said.
