NAOMI RUTH KATZ, 81, of West
Bloomfield, died Feb. 14, 2018.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Steven and Amy Katz,
Joel and Staci Katz; daughter and son-
in-law, Debbie and Chris Hackman;
grandchildren, Kayla (Joey) Addy,
Brianna Koch, Hannah Katz, Benjamin
Katz, Samantha Katz, Alayna Hackman,
Paige Hackman and Noah Hackman;
many other loving family members and
friends.
Mrs. Katz was the loving wife of the
late Marvin Katz; mother of the late
Allen Katz.
Interment took place at Adat Shalom
Memorial Park Cemetery in Livonia.

DIANA LEVENTER, 95,
of Southfield, died Feb.
13, 2018.
She passed away at
her home surrounded
by her family.
Her life was guided
by her belief that every-

one was capable of
loving and being loved.
If you were in her com-
pany, you felt welcome
and special. She loved the companion-
ship of those who knew her through the
Creative Clothing Club, which she led
for more than 25 years. She had been an
activist against the Vietnam war and a
life-long feminist. Shakespeare was her
muse.
Mrs. Leventer is survived by her
daughter and son-in-law, Jan Leventer
and Dr. Ken Axelrad; sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Dr. Mark Leventer and Dr.
Kathleen Anzicek, Robert Leventer and
Jenna Blaustein; cousin, Lynn Jo Hunt,
who was like a daughter to her; seven
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren;
her end-of-life caretakers, Tamika

Johnson, Candace White and Giselle
Uzdavinis, who allowed her death to be
peaceful and dignified; Jennifer Smalle,
who was her personal angel.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Dr. Ira Leventer.
Interment took place at Beth El
Memorial Park Cemetery in Livonia.

RUTH MAROKO, 88,
died Feb. 13, 2018.
A longtime resident
of Sylvan Lake, she
was born in Latvia and
grew up in Jerusalem,
where she gradu-
ated from Teachers
Maroko
College; she also served
in Israel’s War of
Independence.
Ruth and her hus-
band, Simon, lived in Amsterdam for
several years. She had a long career
teaching Hebrew to countless students,

many of whom became her dear friends.
She was also a lifelong volunteer in
many charitable organizations, includ-
ing the Hadassah Doll Project. Her posi-
tive outlook, strength of character and
deep caring for others will forever be
her legacy.
Mrs. Maroko is survived by her lov-
ing children: son and daughter-in-law,
Eli and Beth Maroko; daughters and
sons-in-law, Armonite Albalak and
Yakov Rozenberg, Doris and Dr. Joshua
Loew; grandchildren, Jordan Maroko,
Alex (Nataly Biskay) Maroko, Abby
Maroko, Kinneret and Max Kozinn,
Alon Albalak, Justin Loew, Nathan Loew,
Josh (Courtney) Rozenberg and Anna
Rozenberg.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Dr. Simon W. Maroko.
