Opioid Overdose
Prevention Training

Do you have a loved one or friend
who is suffering from opiate addic-
tion? Naloxone is a life-saving medi-
cation that can reverse the effects
of an overdose. Join this free, short
training and receive a naloxone kit
and the knowledge of how and when
to use it. The training takes place at
7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Daniel
B Sobel Friendship House, 6892 W.
Maple Road, West Bloomfield.
Narcan (naloxone) is an opioid
antagonist used for the complete or
partial reversal of opioid overdose,
including respiratory depression.
Narcan is also used for diagnosis of
suspected or known acute opioid

free training on recognizing and
responding to an opioid overdose
safely. This training is open to all
members of the community.
Participants will leave with the
knowledge and confidence to help
those in crisis from opiate addiction
as well as a free Naloxone auto-
injector.

Greater New Mt. Moriah Missionary
Baptist Church in Detroit once again
will host an annual event to com-
memorate Martin Luther King Jr.

Themed “Where Do We Go From
Here: Chaos or Community? An
Afternoon of Song and Inspiration,”
the event will include choirs from
Adat Shalom Synagogue and Hillel
Day School, both in Farmington Hills.
The event begins at 3 p.m. Sunday,
Jan. 14, at the church, 586 Owen St.,
Detroit. A dessert reception will be
hosted by AIPAC. Reservations are
not required; there is no charge to
attend.
