Ring in the New Year, Detroit style! The Drop
Motor City NYE 2018 is a day-long (4 p.m.-
1 a.m.) free cacophony of celebrations at
Beacon Park (the popular event outgrew its
former location at Campus Martius Park): live
entertainment on three stages, ice skating,
heated tents and fire pits, horse-drawn
carriage rides, food with local vendors and food trucks, restaurants and food trucks — all leading up
to the lowering of the D to countdown to 2018. A Kids’ Zone (open at 4 p.m.) features its own fun and
games, activities, kids’ karaoke and music, face painting and an early-bird Kids’ Drop at 6:30 p.m. You
