each night to bring ruach and fun
to all participants.
Cynthia Roman and Shelly
Milstein are working with the host
homes to plan the parties. There will
be hot chocolate and cider (with a
little “oomph” for the adults) and
Chanukah treats for all. The teens
are ready to help provide an excit-
ing musical Chanukah ride and the
hosts are ready to welcome you to
their homes for a fun Chanukah
party. The JFamily team will be join-
ing with songs and stories for the
children, and the PB & J teens are
ready to spin their dreidels in an
epic dreidel showdown.

During the darkest days of the year,
Jews from across the world light
their Chanukah menorahs to cel-
ebrate the miracle of the Maccabees
and remind us of our obligation to
bring light to others in our home
and community. Congregation B’nai
Moshe and JFamily have partnered
together to bring Chanukah to you
this year.
On Saturday, Dec. 16, in
Farmington Hills, and Sunday, Dec.
17, in Huntington Woods at 6:30
p.m., people of all ages will gather to
celebrate Chanukah. There will be
a candlelight hayride with a giant
Chanukah menorah for the kids, a
party with treats and drinks for the
adults, games, snacks, as well as a
communal candle-lighting for all.
Congregation B’nai Moshe’s post
b’nai mitzvah teens, known as PB
& J (Post B’nai Mitzvah & Judaism),
have been working for months to
plan and prepare for this event.
The teens first studied about the
history and halachah of Chanukah,
then designed the décor of the
float, built and painted the giant
chanukiah, helped to promote the

Detroit Jews for Justice will hold its
annual Chanukah event, Festival of
Rights, from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Dec.
16, at Trinosophes, 1464 Gratiot
Ave. in the Eastern Market. This
Chanukah party energizes the
Metro Detroit Jewish community
through a rejuvenating spiritual
evening that celebrates the year’s
accomplishments, supports ongo-

ing water justice work and honors
DJJ’s community partners.
This year, the program will begin
with a brief Havdalah ceremony to
close the Jewish Sabbath.
DJJ is devoted to educating and
mobilizing the Metro Detroit Jewish
community to stand for water jus-
tice. The current campaign work
is focused on protecting residents
from water shut-offs in the city
of Detroit. Festival of Rights will
feature information about this
campaign work, light food and
beverages, the musical talents of
Klezmephonic, and a silent auction
of Detroit businesses’ services and
artisan goods, including Detroit
Denim, Fresh Cut Detroit Flower
Farm, the Source Booksellers,
Iyengar Yoga Detroit and the
Peacock Room.
The event is free and open to
the public, but space is limited, so
RSVP at detroitjewsforjustice.org/
festival_of_rights_2017. •
