CEO Avishay Nachon and the Kimama team want Jewish youth to have life-altering experiences by spending their summer in camp making new friends, learning about new cultures and ultimately creat- ing a global community of Jewish youth. Realizing its mission of bring- ing American youth to Israel, Camp Kimama opened a U.S. office in New York City last month. “It was a dream for me to provide opportunities for Jewish children around the world to experience Israel,” says Nachon of his homeland. “The only options for our youth were waiting until they were older to take a trip like Birthright or perhaps a family vacation to tour Israel.” Kimama has been offering Jewish youth, ages 7-17, a transformational experience in Israeli culture by pro- viding them a unique and special time with kids who they would oth- erwise never meet. Camp Kimama combines tra- ditional American summer camp activities such as singing, danc- ing, campfires, arts and crafts, and waterfront sports with Israeli cul- tural experiences including Shabbat and Israeli food on the beautiful beaches of Israel. The camp is recognized for its exceptional focus on specialty tracks such as surfing, dog training, cook- ing, scuba diving, SUP-stand up paddle, soccer, basketball, media, robotics and technology, taught by track-specific professionals, and include business partnerships with organizations such as the Food Channel, Wingate Institute, profes- sional surfing schools and more. Options include Kimama Michmoret — on the Mediterranean shore, about half an hour from Tel Aviv (two-week program); Kimama Hof — a nature and sea sports camp by the beach in Beit-Yanai (one-week program); Kimama Galim — an interdisciplinary camp at the foot of Mount Carmel in Haifa (two-week program); and KimamaTech — a start-up, technology and media summer camp in Haifa (two-week program).
