ABRAHAM
MOSHE ANDRZEJ
LUBIENIECKI, 98,
of Windsor,
Ontario, died Nov.
2, 2017.
Born in Poland in
1919, Andrzej was
Lubieniecki
a WWII veteran,
c. 1957
who fought in the
defense of Warsaw
with the Polish
army and later with
the Russian army.
Upon returning
to Poland after the
war, he was among
the team of men
who found the archives buried in the
tunnels of Warsaw that later became
part of the famed Ringelblum
Archive, detailing the Warsaw
Ghetto uprising against the Nazis.
Andrzej resettled his family in
Warsaw and used his command of
the Polish and Yiddish languages
to become a prominent actor in
the Polish Yiddish Theater. He
continued working in theater after
immigrating to Israel and Montreal,
and performed on stages in Europe,
Israel, Russia, Canada and the
United States, during an illustrious
50-year career.
He retired in 2000 after 33 years
with the Yiddish theater in Montreal
and moved to Windsor in order to
be closer to family. His story is docu-
mented at the Holocaust Memorial
Center in Farmington Hills and was
memorialized in part of the book
Three Minutes in Poland by Glenn
Kurtz, which explores the lives of
Jewish residents of Nasielsk, Poland,
his hometown.
Mr. Lubieniecki was preceded
in death by Maria, his loving wife
of 64 years, in 2003. He is survived
by daughters, Ida (late Alexander)
Aisner of Farmington Hills; Sofia
Chayt of West Bloomfield; son and
daughter-in-law Arie and Marcia
Lubienetzky of Ottawa; six grand-
children; and 11 great-grandchil-
dren.
He was laid to rest on Nov.
5 beside his wife at Shaar
Hashomayim Cemetery in Windsor.

Mrs. Rich was the sister of the late
