BRODER, passed
away Oct. 30, 2017,
from complications
of lymphoma.
A native of
Brooklyn, N.Y., and
longtime resident
Broder
of Detroit and
Huntington Woods,
Mr. Broder was
a graduate of Cass Technical High
School and held a bachelor’s degree
in engineering from Wayne State
University. He worked for many years
as an executive in the automotive fas-
teners industry in Detroit and aircraft
tools industry in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
He was a great lover of classical
music and an accomplished gardener.
Mr. Broder was a native Yiddish speak-
er and supporter of Yiddish culture,
including the Workmen’s Circle and
Yiddish Book Center.
In retirement, he traveled all over
the world with his wife, Doreen, and
was an active volunteer in his new
community of Tamarac, Fla., includ-
ing Tomorrow’s Rainbow (a program
for grieving children), the Bromeliad
Society of Broward County, Temple
Kol Ami Emanu-El of Plantation, Fla.,
and Habitat for Humanity.
Mr. Broder was the proud father
of Gail Broder, Phil Broder (Carly
Hitzfeld Broder), Rebecca Egolf (Rabbi
James Egolf); devoted grandfather of
Jeremiah and Joshua Egolf. He is also
survived by his brother, Dr. Martin
Broder (Marian), as well as many
other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his
beloved wife of 55 years, Doreen
(Reifler) Broder, and his parents,
Bernard and Reva (Weisman) Broder.
Interment was at Workmen’s Circle
Cemetery. A memorial service will be
scheduled at a future date at Temple
Kol Ami Emanu-El in Plantation.

DONALD NEUMAN,
83, of Scottsdale,
Ariz., passed away
Nov. 4, 2017, sur-
rounded by his
devoted family.
He was born the
son of Harry and Ida
Neuman
Neuman and raised
in Milwaukee, Wis.
He attended the
University of Wisconsin (B.A. 1956)
and Michigan State University (Ph.D.
1968).
Mr. Neuman served in the United
States Army and was stationed in New
Ulm, Germany, as a lieutenant in the
Medical Service Corps. He was later a
professor in the School of Education
at the University of Wisconsin-
Milwaukee for nearly 30 years, spe-
cializing in science education and
