Middle School in Bloomfield Hills.
For her most meaningful mitzvah
experience, she raised funds for
donation to the American Cancer
Society via Relay for Life as well as
worked at a booth at the event.

addition to her lov-
ing parents, Jan and
Mark Pedersen, Julia will be joined
by many family and friends. Her
proud grandparents are Sonia
Lederman of Wanaque, N.J., and
Herbert Pedersen of Port St. Lucie,
Fla. She is also the grandchild of the
late Helen Pedersen and the late
David Lederman.
Julia is a seventh-grader at
Walnut Creek Middle School in
West Bloomfield. Among her many
mitzvah projects, her favorite was
volunteering at Mission City with
PeerCorps Detroit. She loved to see
all the smiles spread across the chil-
dren’s faces, and it helped her learn
about lifestyles different from her
own.

Isaac is an eighth-grade student
at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit in Farmington Hills. Among
his mitzvah projects, he is helping
to create a pilot bar mitzvah pro-
gram through the Joint Distribution
Committee that will pair Jewish
teens with their family’s ancestral
communities in order to learn about
current issues and raise money to
support these Jewish communities
in Europe.
