Jewish Ferndale celebrated its grand opening on Sept. 17 with art, live
music and food. Jewish Ferndale, launched by Rabbi Herschel Finman, is
a new community gathering place that features Shabbat dinners, vegan
pop-up dinners, Torah classes, an organic garden, art studio, women’s
programs, concerts, counseling, book club, holiday celebrations and
more.
When Finman was asked why bringing Jewish programming to Ferndale
was a top priority, he offered a simple, two-part response. “There are no
other Jewish ‘anythings’ in Ferndale,” he said. “But there are Jews.” •
