The sold-out event drew close to 200 people
who heard stories from Doreen about the history of
their home and viewed their art collection, guided
by JHSM docents who told more about the pieces.
The Oct. 19 event also offered some stories about
Hermelin family history. •

What began as a fundraiser for the Jewish
Historical Society of Michigan became an evening
that honored Doreen Hermelin and her late
husband, David, for years of opening their home to
