Southfield, died
Oct. 21, 2017.
She is survived
by her sons and
daughter-in-law,

daughter and son-
in-law, Lauren “Pinky” and Fernando
Silva-Pinto of Maryland; grandchil-
dren, Emily Eckhous, Daniel Silva-
Pinto, Andrew Eckhous, Nathan
Eckhous, Aleck Silva-Pinto and Noah
Eckhous; and sister-in-law, Ruth
Block.
Mrs. Eckhous was the beloved wife
of the late Dr. Arthur W. Eckhous;
the devoted daughter of the late
Dr. Peter and the late Minabel
Bernstein; the loving sister of the
late Aleck Block and the late Ramon
Block.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be

DR. MARK ELLIS, 65, of Chicago,
Ill., formerly of Michigan, died Oct.
15, 2017.
A dentist, Dr. Ellis practiced in
Port Huron, Detroit and the V.A.
Hospital in Chicago.
He is survived by his daughters,
Dory B. Ellis of Oakland, Calif., Julia
S. Ellis of Aventura, Fla., Lily M. Ellis
of Aventura, Fla.; nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Dr. Ellis was the loving son of the
late Dorothy and the late Max Ellis.

LEONID
KHANUKOV, 77, of
West Bloomfield,
died Oct. 14, 2017.
He was a volun-
teer for many chari-
table organizations
and also a proud
Khanukov
volunteer at his
precinct for elec-
tions.
Mr. Khanukov
is survived by his wife of 54 years,
Eugenya Khanukov; daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Elina and
Vadim Zilberberg of Commerce
Township; son and daughter-in-

law, Alexander and Rae Khanukov,
also of Commerce Township; sister,
Alla Khanukov of Brooklyn, N.Y.;
grandchildren, Jessica Zilberberg,
Gabriella and Jason Markowitz
Zilberberg, Avi Khanukov, Kai
Khanukov.
He was the dear brother-in-law of
the late Roman Levitin.

Klinger

MARK E.
KLINGER, 81, of
West Bloomfield,
died Oct. 20, 2017.
He was rec-
ognized as a
60-year licensed
funeral director
by the Michigan
Funeral Directors
Association at its
convention in May

2017.
Mr. Klinger graduated with his
colleague, friend and boss Herb
Kaufman from the Wayne State
University School of Mortuary
Science in 1957. He took great pride
in knowing that he and Herb began
their careers together at the original
location on Dexter and Edison in
Detroit in 1957 and were at the first
funeral when the Chapel opened at
its current location in Southfield in
April of 1961.
His career at Kaufman Chapel
spanned 35 years and extended
when family or friends called and
requested him to arrange and be
with them throughout the entire
funeral process
Mr. Klinger was a true profes-
sional who loved people and the
Jewish community and never took
for granted the sacred trust and
responsibility given to him. He will
be missed but never forgotten.
Mr. Klinger is survived by his wife
of 58 years, Frances Klinger; sons
and daughters-in-law, Gary and
Carolyn Klinger, Michael and Sheryl
Klinger, all of West Bloomfield;
daughter and son-in-law, Andrea
and Mitch Reid of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Annie Klinger, Ari
Klinger, Allison Reid, Ian Reid and
Genna Reid; sister and brother-in-
law, Susan and Edward Radner;
brother-in-law, Nathan Fine; nieces,
nephews and a world of friends.
He was the dear brother-in-law
of the late Ethel Fine, and the late
