we remember & mourn our dear friend and esteemed patron

B EVERLY L AKER

Z ’ L

Beverly was truly loved by everyone. She had a huge heart, a generous soul and a gregarious nature.
Beverly’s life was marked by kindness, elegance and class. She was blessed with an inspiring fifty
eight year marriage to the love of her life, Irving, her beshert. Together they were pioneers and
founding supporters of JHCN. In fact, our mission that no Jew should ever be alone at the end of
life is part of their everlasting legacy. As Beverly would invariably say when reflecting on her life:
“not bad for an old broad.”

The executive committee, board, administration and staff of

T HE J EWISH H OSPICE & C HAPLAINCY N ETWORK

offer wishes of comfort and heartfelt condolences to our fellow
board member, Martin Laker, and to Beverly’s family:

Beloved wife of 58 years of the late Irving Laker. Loving mother of Andrea Laker (Allan
Skoropa), and Kim (Gerald) Freid. Loving Nana of Jared Freid, Harrison “Harry” Freid
and Josh Laker. Devoted daughter of the late Louis and the late Dorothy Chaleff. Sister
of the late Samuel Chaleff. Daughter-in-law of the late Harry and the late Sarah
Laker. Sister-in-law of Dr. Gerald and Elaine Laker, and Martin and Renee Laker.
Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and Irving and Beverly’s devoted and
caring administrative assistant, Diane Koenig. Also survived by her wonderful team of
caregivers Debra Francis, Ivy Neumah, Pam Jackson, Jeannie Anderson, and Dee Dee Green.
