Hugo is the loving grandchild of Linda and the late Easton Brodsky, and Henry and the late Linda Lee, and the great-grandchild of Juanita Victor. He is a student at Norup International School in Oak Park. As part of his most meaningful mitzvah project, Hugo organized a collection of items for Fern Care Clinic, a clinic that provides medical care to the uninsured at no cost. Londyn Ptasznik Kendall Ptasznik Londyn and Kendall Ptasznik, daughters of Heather and Anthony Ptasznik, will share the bimah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Saturday, Sept. 23, as they cele- brate their b’not mitzvah. Sharing in their celebration will be proud grandparents Carole and Elliott Gelfand, and Kathryn and Gary Ptasznik. Londyn and Kendall attend Detroit Country Day School in Beverly Hills. They performed many mitzvah projects, but each felt vol- unteering at Forgotten Harvest and Gleaners in an effort to combat food insecurity in our community was the most meaningful. Rachel Paige Thav, daughter of Terri and Andrew Thav, will chant from the Torah on the occa- sion of her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel in West Thav Bloomfield on Friday, Sept. 22. She will be joined in celebration by her siblings Keira and Charlie. Rachel is the loving grand- child of Barry and the late Sally Fogel, and Marlene and the late Charles Thav, and the great-grand- child of Eleanor Schwartz. Rachel attends Cranbrook Kingswood Middle School for Girls in Bloomfield Hills. After losing her grandmother to pancreatic cancer, Rachel, for her mitzvah project, organized snack baskets and fleece blankets to be delivered to chemo- therapy clinics in the area to help raise the spirits of those undergoing treatment. She found this to be the most meaningful of her many mitz- vah experiences. Gottesman 50th T he children of Max and Beverly Gottesman would like to wish their parents a very happy 50th anniversary. Max is an owner of Roland Optics, which just celebrated its 40th year as a premier small business serving the community. Ariella graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in psychology and earned an M.A. in modern Jewish studies at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. She is employed as a major gift officer in the Capital Gifts and Special Initiatives Department of UJA Federation of New York. Dave received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Maryland and is a professional engineer. He is director of audits, design and implementation with Bright Power Inc. in New York City. He is also the author of The Gemara Card, published by Koren Publishers, Jerusalem. Kelsey is a graduate of the University of the Pacific with a master’s in speech-language pathology. She is a speech and language pathologist in the Orange Unified School District in Anaheim Hills, Calif. Aaron earned his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan College of Engineering and his master’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from Purdue University. He is an aerodynamics engineer at Boeing in Huntington Beach, Calif. Maya is a third-year emergency medicine resident at the Detroit Medical Center and a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine.
