Historic
Cemetery Open

Building Dream Homes for Over 25 Years

The B’nai David Cemetery, on Van
Dyke between Harper and McNichols
in Detroit, will be open for visitors
Sunday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Eva Goldman of Farmington Hills
spurred the idea for the cemetery
cleanup during an annual visit to the
grave of her great-great-grandmother
in 2014 as the abandoned cemetery

had been overgrown by weeds.
Since then, local Jewish Detroiters
volunteer their time cleaning up the
cemetery. Friends of B’Nai David will
be holding the next work day to clean
up the cemetery in conjunction with
the Jewish Family Services’ program
Fall Family Fix Up on Sunday, Nov. 5,
from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. •

Lena Epstein announced this week
that she will seek the
Republican nomina-
tion for the U.S. House
of Representatives for
Michigan’s 11th congres-
sional district. The seat
will be open in 2018 after
incumbent Republican
Congressman Dave Trott
announced he would not seek re-
election. In choosing to run for the U.S.
House of Representatives, Epstein will
end her bid for Michigan’s U.S. Senate
seat.
Funds raised for her U.S. Senate
campaign can transfer to the congres-
sional campaign according to Federal
Election Commission rules. Epstein
filed with $456,246 cash on hand as of

the June 30th FEC report. Her next FEC
report, due in October, will show
substantially more money raised
and on hand than the previous
report.
Epstein has spent the last
15 years as an automotive
industry businesswoman, com-
munity leader and nationally
recognized conservative. She
is a third-generation co-owner of
Michigan-based Vesco Oil Corporation
and served as the co-chairman of the
Donald J. Trump for President cam-
paign and regularly speaks out in favor
of America First policies through local,
national and international media out-
lets. You can find out more by visiting
