DOWNTOWN ROYAL OAK
After garnering huge success in Traverse City,
Ann Arbor and Detroit, this Michigan-based
Belgian beer bar and eatery has teamed up
with the long-time Royal Oak staple Bastone
Brewery. Bastone still occupies a small por-
tion of the building, but the majority of the
interior is now dedicated to Jolly Pumpkin.
Fans can sip on a variety of Jolly Pumpkin,
North Peak or Bastone beers on tap. Those
who aren’t crazy about beer can opt for crisp
cider, a glass or two of wine or even a refresh-
ing cocktail. While the Royal Oak menu has
its own unique eats, the famous cone of truf-

TAKOI (FORMERLY KATOI) IS BACK IN ACTION
After a complete shut-down due to vandals setting fire to the
building this past February, this Corktown favorite eagerly
reopened its doors on Aug. 28. According to Crain’s Detroit,
the restaurant was rebuilt in the same location on Michigan
Avenue, but with an impressive 300-square-foot expansion.
Visitors can expect even more innovative Asian-inspired
